Michael Bisping Shares Thoughts on Jake Paul Looking to Qualify for 2028 Olympics in Boxing

Michael Bisping has recently shared his thoughts on Jake Paul’s ambitious goal of qualifying for the 2028 Summer Olympics in boxing.

Jake Paul’s boxing career has been quite the spectacle. He has primarily fought former MMA fighters and celebrities. Now, he’s set to take on a new challenge: former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson. This matchup has drawn considerable criticism, but Paul is determined to face it head-on, despite the ethical concerns it raises.

Adding a new twist, Paul has expressed interest in competing for Team USA in the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. Michael Bisping, who has been closely following Paul’s career, weighed in on this development.

Michael Bisping Reacts to Boxer Jake Paul Looking to Qualify for 2028 Olympics

On his YouTube channel, Bisping commented:

“Fair enough, the man wants to go and compete in the Olympics. And you know what? I’ve actually got a lot of respect for him.” He continued, “Jake Paul is kind of doing it the opposite way around because he’s very famous, he’s had a lot of professional boxing fights, and he’s going to go to the amateurs. But the guy that just won the Olympic gold medal has actually had four professional boxing bouts, as well. Now, if Jake Paul were to win the Olympics, I mean, that would be incredible.”

Bisping elaborated on the prestige that would come with an Olympic win, saying, “And he would join the likes of the great Muhammad Ali, the GOAT George Foreman, Joe Frazier, Oscar De La Hoya, Lennox Lewis, Pernell Whitaker, Mark Breland, the list goes on and on.” This highlights the remarkable company Paul would be in if he were to achieve such a feat.

However, Bisping also noted the challenges Paul would face in the amateur boxing arena. “For Jake Paul, if you did go and fight in the Olympics, well, first of all, it wouldn’t be his promotion, would it? So he wouldn’t be able to cherry-pick opponents. He wouldn’t be able to take people that are way past their sell-by date, like Mike Tyson who’s 58 years old. … The last time Jake Paul fought somebody his own size and weight, we know that he lost.”

Paul’s interest in competing in the Olympics adds an intriguing new dimension to his boxing career. It’s a bold move that could potentially redefine his place in the sport. Whether he can successfully make the shift from professional to Olympic boxing remains to be seen, but it’s certainly a development worth watching.

What do you think? Do you think Jake Paul is being serious, or just playing around? Let us know in the comments!
