The upcoming UFC Fight Night card features a lightweight bout between Jalin Turner and Bobby Green, promising an exciting back-and-forth stand-up battle.
Jalin Turner, known for his dynamic striking and finishing ability, holds a professional MMA record of 13 wins and 7 losses. He has demonstrated significant knockout power with 9 victories by KO and 4 by submission. Turner’s recent performances in the UFC have been a mix of highs and lows. He suffered a split decision loss to Dan Hooker in July at UFC 290 in a catchweight bout where he missed weight. Prior to that, he faced another split decision loss against Mateusz Gamrot at UFC 285 in March 2023. However, Turner also showcased his skills with a quick submission victory over Brad Riddell at UFC 276 in July 2022, earning a Performance of the Night award.
Bobby Green brings a wealth of experience into the octagon with a record of 31 wins, 14 losses, 1 draw, and 1 no-contest. He has achieved 11 wins by knockout, 9 by submission, and 11 by decision. Green’s recent fights have been a testament to his resilience and skill. He secured a knockout victory against Grant Dawson at UFC Fight Night in October 2023, which earned him a Performance of the Night award – a bout he was a heavy underdog going in to. Green also achieved a technical submission win over Tony Ferguson at UFC 291 in July 2023. Notably, his bout against Jared Gordon in April 2023 was declared a no-contest due to an accidental clash of heads. Green has faced setbacks as well, including a knockout loss to Drew Dober in December 2022 and a TKO loss to Islam Makhachev in February 2022.
The matchup between Turner and Green is set to be a fascinating display of striking and versatility. Turner, with his knockout power and submission ability, will likely aim to keep the fight standing and utilize his reach. He may capitalize by snatching Green’s neck should they go to the ground, however. Green, known for his well-rounded skill set and experience, could look to mix his striking with grappling to control the pace of the fight. Both fighters have shown they can engage in stand-up wars and have the potential to finish fights, making this an unpredictable and thrilling contest for MMA fans.
Bobby Green started the fight looking like his usual self, talking trash while dodging incoming shots with precise head movement. Turner looked to stay at range and land kicks to the legs and head. About 90 seconds in Turner landed a big right hook while Green was coming in that earned him some respect. He followed that up with a big left hand that had Bobby talking to him but Turner stayed focused. Turner quickly worked back to the center of the cage and threw a big 1-2 that had Green nearly out on his feet. “The Tarantula” pounced on the wounded Green with another big right hand that smashed Green to the floor. From there, Turner landed a barrage of strikes on seemingly unconscious Bobby Green until the ref stepped in.
There was lots of controversy online surrounding the stoppage, with many calling for the firing of referee Kerry Hatley. Green was hit with 18 strikes after being dropped, most of which landed clean on the defenseless Green.
