When it comes to sport, there’s an abundance of options to choose from. Women in sport are often overlooked, even in today’s world. However, funding, number of competitions, and fanbases for women’s sport are on the up. So changes are continuing to be seen, which is a positive. One female sports arena that has had a loyal following for a long time is MMA.

Women in MMA: What’s The Draw of MMA?

MMA truly is an intense sporting environment. For fans, it offers a wealth of entertainment, alongside an usually high level of skill from the top fighters when they’re in the octagon. And, for those who like to bet on sport, MMA is a really popular choice. It’s easy to find sportsbook options online if you don’t have a go-to option already. Just take a look at this lunubet casino review if you need some inspiration.

MMA is also unique, in that it mixes an array of martial arts into one sport. This makes for unpredictable fights, even if, on paper, it seems like a fight’s outcome is a done deal. The techniques and styles used in MMA are so varied, that it’s honestly thrilling to watch. Fighters might pull their methods from any number of martial arts, such as BJJ, Judo, or Muay Thai. Alternatively, they may use an old-school boxing move. Fights can be over in a matter of seconds, or go on for all three or five (depending on the competition) of the five-minute rounds. That’s the thrill of it in a nutshell.

Are Women’s MMA Fights Just As Interesting As The Men’s?

If you’re new to the MMA world, then you may be forgiven for thinking that women’s fights are somehow more tame. In fact, women’s fights are just as intense and the skill level displayed is just as unimaginable. It could well be argued that the brutality displayed by women MMA fighters is even higher than their male counterparts. Just check out any footage of a female MMA fight. There’s blood, knockouts, head hits, and a fair share of broken bones across the weight classes. So it’s no wonder that MMA has a reputation as one of the most dangerous sports around.

Practically everyone has heard of Conor McGregor because of his now notorious UFC career, plus his boxing bout with Floyd Mayweather. But what about the female MMA fighters? If we’re looking at all-time famous fighters, the most famous woman in MMA (specifically UFC) is probably Ronda Rousey. If her fighting prowess wasn’t enough to bring new fans to the sport, she is also known for adopting the tactic of bad-mouthing her opponents during press events. Highly entertaining to watch as an avid MMA supporter.

Where to Watch MMA?

UFC is undoubtedly the most well-known MMA promotional company. While it may be headquartered in Las Vegas, it’s not restricted to any one arena as it holds MMA events in many different locations. This has definitely added to the popularity of MMA because it has become more accessible to fans. UFC is the most well-known MMA promoter on television too. Here in the UK, fights are currently shown on TNT Sports. Alternatively, you can purchase a UFC fight pass to watch MMA fights online in the UK. This is available as a yearly or monthly pass.

Each event features multiple fights, and the fight card often features a mixture of men’s and women’s bouts. For women’s fights, you’ll be able to watch matches in four weight classes. These are Featherweight (135 lb to 145 lb) Bantamweight (125 lb to 135 lb), Flyweight (115 lb to 125 lb), and Strawweight (no minimum weight requirement, up to 115lbs)

Whether you’re watching the men or the women fight, MMA is a wild sport that attracts a huge audience across the globe for a reason.
