The UFC Singapore main event sees two legends go head-to-head as Max Holloway faces ‘The Korean Zombie’ Chan Sung Jung.

UFC Singapore Main Event
The main event of the evening sees one of the greatest featherweights of all time in Max ‘Blessed’ Holloway face off against a legend of the game in Chan Sung Jung, more commonly known as ‘The Korean Zombie’.
You would need to track all the way back to August 2013 to find the last time that Max Holloway lost to a featherweight, that was not called Alexander Volkanovski. Prior to his three defeats to ‘Volk’, his last loss at the weight was back in 2013. It came at the hands of a certain Irishman. His name, was Conor McGregor.
Max comes into the main event as the favourite, coming off the back of an win over fellow top contender Arnold Allen. In the opposite corner, is a man that needs no introduction. ‘The Korean Zombie’ himself, Chan Sung Jung. ‘Zombie’ was nicknamed due to his natural born toughness to take a beating and keep coming forward. This style has made him a fan favourite and he is very rarely in a dull fight.
‘Zombie’ comes into the main event off the back of a loss to the current champion Alexander Volkanovski. ‘Volk’ put a beating on ‘Zombie’ on that night, leading to a fourth round TKO. Jung will need to show the same grit this time around as he takes on a man who is knows as being a very clear number two in the division. A man that throws more shots than anybody else and is the self-proclaimed ‘best boxer in the UFC. Holloway Vs ‘The Korean Zombie’ is a guaranteed crowd pleaser and one that is not to be missed.
Co-Main Event
The co-main event sees former foes Anthony Smith and Ryan Spann go toe-to-toe once more. The last time these two faced off, it was a hot blooded affair. The two did not see eye to eye. It was ‘Lionheart’ who won the fight via submission in the first round. The pair had a heated exchange immediately after the fight with Smith demanding to have Spann’s respect. The victory was also the last time that Smith was victorious in the octagon.
Smith has had a pretty rough ride lately. After defeating Spann, Smith has had losses in the octagon and in his life. He lost his mother unexpectedly in the run up to his loss to Magomed Ankalaev. To make matters even worse, ‘Lionheart’ broke his ankle in his defeat and when he returned, he was again defeated at the hands of Johnny Walker.
Smith will be hoping to get his career back on track as he stomps over old ground but Ryan Spann will see this as an opportunity to get one back. Following his defeat to Smith, Spann had back-to-back wins over Ion Cutelaba and Dominick Reyes. He then ran into a Nikita Krylov ‘Triangle-choke’ last time out and will see this rematch as a chance at redemption.
Both men are desperate for a win in what could be labelled as a bit of a crossroads fight for both men.
Main Card – Starts 13:00 on TNT Sports – UK Time
The main card sees the return of Giga Chikadze after a long break from the sport. Chikadze was on a seven fight win streak in the UFC before running into Calvin Kattar in January 2022. Since then, Chikadze has been out of action and finally returns against number fifteen ranked Alex Caceres in what should be a fun matchup.
Rinya Nakamura will face off against Fernie Gracie in the bantamweight division and Erin Blanchfield and Taila Santos will look to stake their claim for a crack at the flyweight championship. Number three ranked Blanchfield and number four ranked Santos are right in title contention and will hope the winner will get a shot at the winner of Alexa Grasso Vs Valentina Shevchenko. With Rose Namajunas joining the division and facing off against Manon Fiorot, one of these two will need to make a real statement if they want the title shot next. The main card opener sees heavyweights Junior Tafa and Parker Porter come face-to-face. This one should deliver something big, so don’t blink.
Prelim Card – Starts 10:00 on UFC Fight Pass – UK Time
The prelim card opens with Seungwoo Choi Vs Jarno Errens in a featherweight bout. Na Liang and JJ Aldrich will face off in a women’s flyweight bout. Billy Goff will look to get his UFC career off to a flyer as he takes on Yusaku Kinoshita. Song Kenan faces Rolando Bedoya before Chidi Njokuani squares off against Michal Oleksiejczuk. Toshiomi Kazama will face Garrett Armfield before the prelim headliner of Waldo Cortes Acosta against Lukasz Brzeski in the heavyweight division.
