This evening’s fight night takes place in Louisville, Kentucky in the KFC YUM! Centre. With Kentucky being the homeland of KFC having there own arena does not shock me. And so tonight’s fight night will se the collaboration of the UFC and KFC for a tasty batch of fights.
UFC Louisville Jared Cannonier vs. Nassourdine Imavov
The Main event will see UFC veteran and current middleweight contender Jared Cannonier against rising French star Nassourdine Imavov. Cannonier looks to maintain his position in the middleweight top 5 and continue his pursuit of UFC gold. Jared is getting up there in age at 40 years old and cannot afford to lose at this stage of his career and will likely be in the decline. Meanwhile, Nassourdine Imavov’s career has a very different trajectory being a young up and comer seeking to get himself into title contention. Imavov lacks any real names on his resume and a win over Cannoneir could be that signature win Imavov needs.
Reyes vs Jacoby
The co-main for this card is a light heavyweight affair between Dominick Reyes and Dustin Jacoby. For Reyes this is a do or die moment in his career with 4 straight losses 3 of which being KOs another loss could be the end of Reyes. After losing a highly contested decision against Jon Jones which many thought he won Reyes has been on a downward spiral. He’s been finished by the top of the division in Jiri and Jan and then lost to lower fighters in Ryan Spann. For Reyes a win is vital. Dustin Jacoby looks to enter the rankings and a win over Reyes might just do it.
