Paddy Pimblett picked up the biggest win of his career at UFC 314, pounding his way to a TKO win over Michael Chandler. Pimblett had what many would say was his strongest performance to date. He outstruck Chandler 80-11 in significant strikes and had nearly five minutes of control.
The stoppage came following a strong second round from Pimblett which saw many submission attempts and top strikes. Once the third round got underway, Pimblett rocked Chandler and followed up by getting the fight to the ground and getting on top where he switched between choked attempts and ground and pound, eventually settling on his elbows and punches to finish the fight from the top just over the three-minute mark of the third round. Chandler was left bloodied up and wasn’t in the cage when the decision was read.
With the win, Pimblett now sees himself amid a stacked lightweight top 10. He called out Arman Tsarukyan, Charles Oliveira, Dustin Poirier, and Justin Gaethje, showing Pimblett is eyeing a clear top contender next. His former foe, Ilia Topuria, also needs a dance partner for his upcoming lightweight debut. This win allows Pimblett to explore all those possibilities, with his now seven-fight win streak being the second longest at lightweight behind the champion, Islam Makhachev.
Pimblett increases his UFC record to a stunning 7-0 while also grabbing his first TKO since his UFC debut back in 2021. With five finishes in those seven wins, PImblett is becoming one of the better finishers in the lightweight division.
