Carlos Prates delivered a statement-making performance in the main event of UFC Vegas 100, knocking out Neil Magny with a devastating left hand in the final seconds of the first round. Prates (21-6 MMA) continued his impressive run in the UFC, securing his fourth consecutive knockout of 2024 and proving once again why he’s a name to watch in the welterweight division.

Coming off a highlight-reel KO over Jingliang Li in August, Prates entered this bout undefeated in his first three UFC fights, all of which he ended in spectacular fashion. Meanwhile, the seasoned Neil Magny (29-13 MMA) was looking to bounce back from a tough TKO loss to Michael Morales and add stability to his recent record of 2-3 in his last five appearances.

Magny started strong, using his experience and reach to keep Prates at bay. However, midway through the round, Prates began to find his rhythm, landing a standing elbow that shifted the momentum in his favor. Moments later, he connected with a powerful left hand to Magny’s temple, sending the veteran crashing to the canvas. The referee stepped in immediately, marking the end of the fight at 4:50 in the first round. After the fight, Prates took the opportunity to make his next challenge known. “I think the perfect fight would be in Australia because I have a daughter there,” Prates shared. “Fight there in Australia against Jack Della Maddalena. All respect to this guy.” He also expressed interest in another potential opponent, adding, “It would be amazing but also I think it would be a really good fight against Geoff Neal.”

The knockout generated a flurry of reactions from fellow fighters, who took to social media to share their thoughts:
