UFC finally makes its long-awaited return after a several-week layoff during the festive period. The first show of the year, they hope it can set the standard for the company’s biggest yet. Headlined by a top 15 Middleweight clash with Nassourdine Imavov Vs Sean Strickland. However, due to the short notice change, the bout will take place at Light Heavyweight.
Both men are looking to enter the division’s elite and make 2023 a year to remember. For Sean, it will be a potential return to the top 5. A man who contested against the current champion not too long ago. A tough couple of results have seen him fall away. Still only 31, and full of talent. A win this Saturday could put him right back on track.
His counterpart on the night, Imavov will look to claim another big scalp and enter the top 10 for the first time. One of the names spearheading France’s hopes at championship gold. Nassourdine Imavov has just five fights in the UFC, losing just once. An impressive three-fight winning streak sees him enter this contest in fine form.
Where and When to Watch
As it’s the first event of the year, this event will likely have a few extra eyes on it. With UFC being away from the cage for four weeks, many will be looking for the upper echelon of MMA to return.
For those of you tuning in, the action will start on UFC Fight Pass for the prelims at 9 pm GMT. This is a subscription-based service available for just £6.99 a month. The preliminary card will be made up of seven fights, however, this is subject to change.
For the main card, viewers will need to jump over to BT Sport. The action here commences at 00:00 am GMT and will consist of five fights. The action will conclude around 2:30 am GMT.
