UFC 291 fight week has finally arrived after mass anticipation for the card. Like all cards, there have been some cancellations and pull-outs, but most fights have remained intact. Paulo Costa vs. Ikran Aliskerov was the only bout removed from the card in full, with both men being rescheduled for later this year. The card is headlined by a rematch between Justin Gaethje and Dustin Poirier for the BMF belt.
The weigh-ins concluded with two weight misses, one from Vinicius Salvador who came in 2.5 pounds over the flyweight limit. His opponent C.J. Vergara accepted 20% of Salvador’s purse and the fight will continue. The second miss came from Brazilian Michel Pereira who was scheduled to face Stephen Thompson. Pereira came in 3 pounds over the welterweight limit and his fight with Thompson is now in jeopardy. Here are the full weigh-in results for UFC 291:

With Pereira missing weight and his bout with Thompson in question, we could see a fight shift up to the main card. The likely candidate would be Lewis vs. de Lima, Conversations between Pereira and Thompson have extended into the late afternoon with still no word. We’ll have to wait and see if Thompson accepts the fight.
