Tyron Woodley Says Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson Is a Very Even Fight

Former Heavyweight champion Mike Tyson is facing off against Jake Paul. This fight is almost upon us and the predictions are starting to come in with former UFC champion Tyron Woodley giving his thoughts on the match-up.

Tyron Woodley Prediction

On November 15th, Mike Tyson will face off against Jake Paul in an eight-round boxing match. This fight will be broadcast live on Netflix that figures to be one of the biggest combat sport events of 2024. The fight was originally meant to happen in July 2024. However, Mike Tyson would go on withdrawing due to a medical issue, which delayed the event from happening.

This medical incident has led many people to question whether this fight should even take place. This is due to the 30-year age gap between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson. However, some would argue that the age gap in question is what makes this fight interesting.

Over the weekend, former UFC Welterweight champion Tyron Woodley who is a former opponent of Jake Paul spoke to TMZ Sports. Tyron Woodley believes that this fight between Paul and Tyson is actually quite close because of Tyson’s advanced age. Woodley said this when he said;

“It’s a very even fight, to be honest,”

“It’s even because of the age of Mike Tyson. I think it’s an even fight because of the age of Mike Tyson. He’s completely, obviously, out of his prime. In his prime most of his fights were almost attempted murder, so literally Jake wouldn’t have stood a chance. Nobody would even commission or sanction a fight between him and Mike Tyson.”

Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson

Mike Tyson was certainly one of the most feared fighters on the planet in his prime. However, this was around 35 years ago. Mike Tyson has not competed in a professional boxing fight since 2005 and was last seen in the ring 4 years ago. This was for an exhibition fight against Roy Jones Jr.

Meanwhile, Jake Paul has had 10 professional boxing fights during that time. In those 10 boxing fights, Jake Paul has been able to finish 6 of them by way of knockout, including a devastating stoppage of Tyron Woodley in their rematch back in 2021. In his most recent outing, Jake Paul was able to get the stoppage over BKFC star Mike Perry back in July 2024. However, this was the latest instance of what Tyron Woodley says is Jake Paul choosing his opponents wisely. Woodley said this when he said;

“Jake’s always on a win-win situation,”

“He’s fighting guys that if he loses, ‘He lost to this guy. You lost to Tyron, you lost to Anderson Silva, you lost to [Nate] Diaz.’ So he’s always in a position where if he wins he goes up, if he loses it’s like, OK, he took a risk, he took a chance.”

Jake Paul Not Taking Chances

It appears that Jake Paul is not taking much of a chance in this upcoming fight. This is due to Jake Paul currently being a considerable betting favourite over Mike Tyson. However, as the saying goes, anything can happen in the ring so come fight night, Tyron Woodley intends to be ringside to find out exactly what happens in the fight. Tyron said this when he said;

“I like the fight. I’ll be at the fight,”

“I was originally fighting on the card. We couldn’t find a formidable opponent that made sense. So now it’s just to support the event and be a part of a big event in combat sports.”
