Today the news broke regarding the main and co-main event for UFC 304. Tom Aspinall reveals the reason why he is fighting Curtis Blaydes in the co-main event and not Ciryl Gane.
Tom Aspinall Reveals Reason Ciryl Gane Turned Down UFC 304 Main Event
Talking on his YouTube channel. Aspinall gave his thoughts on his upcoming July 27th, UFC 304 showdown with Curtis Blaydes. During the nearly nine-minute video, the interim champion gave the reason why Ciryl Gane turned down the opportunity to fight him.
Talking directly to the camera Tom Aspinall said the following regarding Ciryl Gane.
“The UFC wanted me to fight Ciryl Gane. I said okay, the UFC wants to do it, we can do it, I’m not bothered, I feel like I’m the champion of the world. I’m ranked number one in the world. I’ll fight anybody, you don’t have to talk me into anything.”
“The UFC are my bosses, they want me to fight Ciryl Gane? Count me in, that’s okay, we’ll do it. Ciryl on the other hand. He’s out there doing a film, Ciryl is out there trying to be the French Arnold Schwarzenegger right now, and fair play to him”.
“If he wants to do films and be an actor. Go and enjoy yourself Ciryl, go and do your thing, make some money do whatever you are doing… But he didn’t take the fight. He wanted to do his film so, Curtis Blaydes. They’ve thrown him in, very happy with it, I’m happy to fight anybody.”

Despite the bout between Aspinall and Gane falling through. The Brit is still happy with the matchup he has for UFC 304 against Blydes. A rematch two years in the making, the last bout between the pair ended in just 15 seconds due to a knee injury to Aspinall.
Now holding interim gold Aspinall looks to showcase he is the better fighter in his home city of Manchester, England. Blaydes will look to shut down Aspinall in his home country once again, hoping this time to leave no doubts about who the better man is once they leave the cage.
