UFC Fan Favourite Nick Diaz is not done yet as he returns to the octagon in August against “The Silent Assassin” Vincente Luque

Nick Diaz is a pioneer of the UFC and MMA worldwide thanks to his never-say-die attitude. Willing to fight anyone, anywhere and never quitting in the process he won the hearts of millions.

Whether it was his iconic one-liners or constant forward-pressure fight style Nick Diaz needs no promotion. Along with the help of his equally iconic brother Nate the Diaz brothers are staples of UFC heritage.

Now 40 years old Stockton, California’s Diaz to the surprise of many is back in the mix. This time out against #13 ranked Welterweight Vincente Luque.

Diaz v Luque sits as the co-main event of August 3rd’s UFC Fight Night Abu Dhabi. A perfect warm-up to the enticing main event of Cory Sandhagen v Umar Nurmagomedov.

In the build-up to his August 3rd co-main event close friend of Diaz Jake Shields, shed some shocking light on Diaz’s last fight against Robbie Lawler.

The Shocking Truth Behind Nick Diaz’s Last Performance Against Robbie Lawler

The last time we saw Nick Diaz fight was nearly three years ago at UFC 266 in September 2021. Returning from a 6-year hiatus to face the ever-dangerous “Ruthless” Robbie Lawler.

Fans were excited to see Diaz return after so long out of the game, but it did not go as hoped. Despite glimpses of the Diaz of old, Lawler finished the underwhelming Nick in the third round by TKO.

Jake Shields recently appeared on the JAXXON PODCAST and discussed Nick’s last fight:

“He didn’t train at all for his Lawler fight, that fight shouldn’t have happened in my opinion. I’m not gonna get into too many details but I wasn’t too happy. I think he was kind of pressured into that so people could make money.

The fact that he fought Robbie Lawler with zero training in five years, I was freaked out watching that,” he went on to add:

“I thought he was gonna get embarrassed and he put on a fricken war. He lost, but he went just two rounds — for a second, I thought he might come back and win — with no training. So, I think it shows he still has the heart, and now he’s training. I can’t say how hard, I know he’s training now.”

Fans will be glad to hear that Diaz is now in training and taking this fight more seriously. A fight that must be taken seriously against such a dangerous striker in Luque.

With Luque coming off a TKO loss to Joaquin Buckley, how will Diaz fair against “The Silent Assassin”?
