In typical Sean Strickland fashion he made his mark at the pre-fight presser. This time his target was Paulo Costa his current opponent for UFC 302 an opponent who’s more than happy to exchange barbs.

Sean and Costa’s interactions

Sean opened by saying Paulo, “better hope that God’s in your favour” the implication being Paulo has no chance. After quite a tame opening he then launched into a more intense verbal assault. He shouted “I’m gonna f*cking beat your d*ck into the f*cking dirt. But, don’t worry I ain’t gonna f*ck you like Izzy did!”. A line very typical of Strickland and a good one at that. A clear reference to the beating Adesanya gave Paulo and his interesting post fight celebration humping Paulo.

Paulo had a bit of a weak retort telling Sean, “don’t worry I’ll get some secret juice for you after the fight”. Which didn’t really make sense as a reply to Sean’s statement. After this Sean added “I like Costa, he’s a funny motherf*cker” and pretty much he and Costa praised the audience and talked about how they’ll put on a show.

Costa was asked about a response to a Strickland comment from earlier in the week where he said “I’m better everywhere”. Paulo admitted Strickland ,”is good at what he does jab, straight and you know move forwards” but that “I have my tools on my box”. I assume he meant more tools in his box but the point stands Paulo think’s he more well rounded. That’s a pretty accurate assessment Paulo is the more well rounded of the 2 having greater variety in what he throws and uses.

Both guys were adamant that they will beat each other rather unsurprisingly. But they were still relatively respectful to each other praising the other. Strickland praised Costa’s English and Costa praised Sean’s commitment to his country. Generally there wasn’t much animosity between the 2. Their fight should be a fun one and could have big implications for the title picture.
