British Boxing World Champion Savannah Marshall opponent for her first match in MMA has been announced.
Savannah Marshall Opponent Revealed
Savannah Marshall is the current WBA, WBO, IBF, and The Ring super middleweight boxing champion. Marshall has a current record of 13 wins and 1 defeat with 10 of her wins coming by way of knockout. The only defeat on her record came by Claressa Shields. Shields have already transitioned into MMA and a match-up in the smart cage seems more likely when we will see it happen rather than if we will see it happen. Marshall will look to make a name for herself in the smart cage come June 8th when she headline’s the PFL Europe 2 event against Mirela Vargas.
Mirela Vargas currently has a record of 1-2 and is currently riding a 2-fight losing streak. Mirela Vargas started her career off with a first-round knockout against Ariela Ribeiro after only 12 seconds. However, Vargas then took a 2-year break before coming back and has since lost the last 2 fights she has been in. Vargas will be coming into this event looking to cause the upset and get her career back onto the right path. However, will she be able to defeat the current Super Middleweight Boxing Champion in MMA or will the Boxing Champion be able to make the switch?
PFL Europe 2 Rest of the Card
Not only is Savannah Marshall making her debut, but, the Women’s Flyweight and the Men’s Bantamweight tournaments begin. Last year Women’s Flyweight Champion Dakota Ditcheva is not taking part this year. This is due to her taking part in the PFL Regular Season and securing a first-round TKO in the first round of fights on the 4th of April 2024.
The former Men’s Bantamweight Champion Khurshed Kakhorov will be returning to try and defend the title he won last year. The 12-1 Fighter will open his tournament against Bondo Kikadze (8-3-1). The current card is as follows;
