UFC Lightweight Paddy Pimblett Has Opened Up About His Repeated Post-Fight Weight Gain

Whilst undefeated in the UFC Paddy “The Baddy” Pimblett (22-3-0) gets a lot of negative attention. Though undefeated in 6 years most of the talk surrounding Paddy is not to do with his octagon performances.

Notorious for his diet and extreme weight gain post-fight fans love to see Paddy Pimblett binge eat on his YouTube channel. Fighting at the 155lb Lightweight division is a gruelling cut for Paddy and his love for junk food makes the cut even trickier.

He admits outside of camp he walks out at around 95KG (209lbs), over 50lbs heavier than his fight weight. Most recently documented how he gained 40lbs in 2 weeks after his UFC 304 victory over King Green.

In a recent podcast appearance, Paddy explained why he gained so much weight in such a short space of time.

“The Baddy’s” Love for Food

In an appearance on StillTalkingShow Paddy shed some light on why he balloons so quickly after a fight camp:

“After a fight week, I end up going up to about 95kg [209.5lbs] or something. It’s just where you have depleted your body, it holds onto everything. I’ve half put it in starvation mode for a week making weight. Your body holds on to everything.

So as soon as I have salty stuff, it just holds the water in me. That’s why I look bloated, and I look fat. It’s my cheeks. It’s just bloated, it’s just because I go overboard, I’ll be honest.”

Whilst high salt leading to water retention might be part of the explanation, his YouTube food vlogs may also explain a lot. Paddy loves to indulge recently setting a restaurant’s record by eating 47 chicken wings in an hour.

Welterweight Endeavours?

His notably challenging weight cut to Lightweight may not go on for much longer. Despite never missing weight “The Baddy” opened the door to the possibility of fighting at Welterweight if the opponent was right:

“I’d rather not kill myself trying to make weight – but if they want to get me Colby [Covington] or [Conor] McGregor at welterweight, I’d do it.

I’d fight either at welterweight because they aren’t massive welterweights. I don’t think many welterweights are that big compared to me. I only realized how big of a lightweight I am when I fought Bobby.”

Whether he makes the move or not, given his size Paddy definitely wouldn’t be undersized at 170lbs.
