As the anticipation builds for Almighty Fighting Championship 35 in Wales Deeside, amateur fighter Lewis Mackenzie gears up for his upcoming showdown against Jack Bangs. In an exclusive interview, Mackenzie shares insights into his preparation, mindset, and expectations for the bout.
“I’m an experienced amateur now so physically I’m always prepared, got a good structure for my fight camps and diet now. My mental game is where I feel I’ve made the biggest improvements lately though, I actually want to be in there and prove my level,” Mackenzie reflects on his readiness for the fight.

Known for his active approach to the amateur circuit, Mackenzie emphasizes the significance of gaining valuable cage time before transitioning to the professional ranks. “Yeah, I’d like to have some big fights this year, but I take each fight one step at a time and put all my focus into that. Most important thing for me is improving in between fights as that’s the time to work on the weaker skills,” he adds.
Acknowledging the challenge posed by his opponent, Jack Bangs, Mackenzie expresses his excitement for the matchup. “It’s a tough fight, he’s very skilled all over but that excites me. Just like my last 2 fights both very experienced which means I’m having to focus and train harder than ever this is pushing me to a new level and I’m improving at a very high pace,” he comments on Bangs’ capabilities.
When asked about the significance of securing a victory over Bangs, Mackenzie remains grounded, viewing it as another step forward in his journey. “Again it’s another good win another step closer to where I’m going to be obviously the goal is to win that title and you don’t get there by taking easy fights. I think this would be a big statement as his only loss is to the current champion,” he explains.
Ready for What Bangs Brings
Considering his diverse experience in the cage, Mackenzie feels prepared for whatever Bangs brings to the table. “I’ve faced a whole range of styles now so I feel like I’m comfortable wherever it goes I can find solutions. From what I’ve seen he’s a lot more composed than some of my previous fights which I’m looking forward to dealing with because that’s something you see at the higher end of amateur,” he concludes.
