The number two bantamweight contender in the world Sean O’Malley sends a warning to Leon Edwards. Taking to his YouTube channel the charismatic ‘Suga Show’ urges Edwards not to get on the UFC’s ‘bad side’.
Despite not holding a championship in his UFC tenure up to this point. O’Malley is right on the cusp of challenging for gold. A man the UFC has a lot of faith in as a draw, Sean’s UFC rise has been one of the best managed in recent years. His good relationship with the higher-ups has been an important part of this.
Leon Edwards Vs Colby Covington
Fresh off of his UFC 286 title defence against Kamaru Usman, it appears the top brass have the next challenger in mind for Leon Edwards. Pitching Colby Covington as being next for the champion. Dana White has the match-up all but made, to the ire of many.
Not keen on fighting a contender who would enter the bout 2-2 in his last four. Edwards has expressed his opinion as to why he’s not a fan of facing Covington next. Citing strength of schedule, inactivity and own personal experience as reasons why he’s against the bout.
Sean O’Malley Warning to Leon Edwards
Taking to his YouTube channel Sean O’Malley gives a word of warning to the welterweight champion. Starting by saying he does believe the fight will happen. “I think [Colby vs. Leon] is going to happen.”
He continues by stating his opinion on what he thinks will happen if Leon ‘refuses’ the fight. “If Leon [refuses] the fight… [the UFC] is not afraid of saying ‘OK, don’t fight, we’ll have a new belt, new champ’. So, you know, I think if you’re Leon, you don’t get on the bad side of the UFC. You say ‘yes sir, if that’s what the f—- you guys want, I’m going to go out there and beat this dude. I’m going to do that, and we’re going to sell a lot of f—ing pay-per-views.’
“Just get on that good side! You don’t want to be on their bad side.”
