Khamzat Chimaev Accuses Darren Till of being at fault for UFC 279 Weight Miss: “It’s His Fault”

Khamzat Chimaev shocked the mixed martial arts community ahead of his scheduled main event clash with Nate Diaz at UFC 279. The All Stars athlete hit the scales 7.5 lbs over the welterweight mark. Still, the Chechen still seems to be in a humorous spirit.

The UFC is working tirelessly to try and fix the mess that is UFC 279. The fight card was built around the main event between Chimaev and Diaz, and now it’s been ripped away from the fans.

Saturday night’s scheduled card is still up in the air with negotiations ongoing with a handful of fighters. Rumours are circulating that Diaz will now face Tony Ferguson, who was set to face Li Jingliang in the co-main event. Kevin Holland will now face Chimaev in the co-main event. That leaves Daniel Rodriguez and Li Jingliang without an opponent. However, the pairing has reportedly agreed to face one another.

Chimaev, who was on the path to superstardom, hasn’t seemed fazed by the weight miss and is trying to brush it off with some memes. The 28-year-old took to Twitter to blame Darren Till for missing weight, along with posting a photoshopped image of the pair beefed up.

It was reported that Chimaev was seen at a restaurant eating and drinking sparkling water…the night before the weigh-ins. Still, the Chimaev camp is putting the weight miss down to a medical issue.

With no clear announcement of what’s next, stay tuned at Combat Sports UK for all the latest news.
