Joe Pyfer Issues Statement Following Defeat to Jack Hermansson

Joe Pyfer has issued a statement after his unanimous decision loss to Jack Hermansson at this weekend’s UFC Vegas 86. The defeat to Hermansson was Pyfer’s first main event and also his first loss in the UFC after winning his previous three fights. In impressive fashion, he was able to submit Abdul Razak Alhassan in his most recent win. His bid to break into the rankings with a win over a seasoned veteran in Hermansson failed as he was out-pointed by the 35-year-old over five rounds.

This was Hermansson’s first fight since December 2022 when he lost to Roman Dolidze by TKO. He is now 24-8 in his professional career and will be looking to build on this win by putting together two wins in a row for the first time since 2019.

Joe Pyfer Statement

After his disappointing loss, Pyfer took to Instagram to issue his statement:

“I just want to say, I’m okay,” said the 27-year-old.

“Despite how my face looks. I wasn’t rocked. I got punched in the eyeball, couldn’t see. He did a good job on the can[vas]. I feel like the eye, when I lost vision, I fell that round. Like I lost that round and just couldn’t get it back. Then he did a good job on the can[vas]. So, to all my haters, suck a fat d***. I wasn’t supposed to be here anyway. I give it one hundred percent every time. We will make adjustments and we’ll come back. Thank you to all my sponsors and to everyone who supports me. And yeah, good job Jack (Hermansson).”

Pyfer loses First Main Event

In the first round, Pyfer found success and started strongly. He dominated Hermansson for the first five minutes putting his opponent on the back foot. In the second, it was a similar story, but ‘The Joker’ did show signs of life towards the end of the round. However, round three saw the momentum shift as Hermansson began to take over on the feet, landing his jab and low kicks consistently.

Hermansson’s good work on the feet continued into round four. The final round saw Hermansson take the fight to the ground to secure his victory and smother Pyfer. Consequently, Hermansson’s unanimous decision win was well-deserved in the end.
