Jiri Prochazka is on the road to a comeback and he has called Alex Pereira as the guy he wants to fight next for the Light Heavyweight title.

After UFC 291 the light heavyweight division has a new contender in Alex ‘Poatan’ Pereira, and Jiri Prochazka, who vacated the belt in December wants that fight for his return.

Pereira won a split decision on Saturday night at UFC 291 against previously #3 ranked Jan Blachowicz. As such Pereira took Jans ranking and established himself in the light heavy weight division as a new contender.

Jiri won the belt back in June 2022 after finishing Glover Teixera in the 5th round at UFC 275. The pair were due to rematch in December because of a serious shoulder injury to Jiri, he subsequently relinquished the title.

Jiri will resume a 13 fight unbeaten run when he makes his return to the UFC.

Jiri Prochazka Talks up Potential Alex Pereira Fight

Speaking on Monday to Ariel Helwni on the MMA Hour Jiri gave an update on his thoughts about the division as well as Alex Pereiras victory on Saturday night:

“Yeah, sure – not sure, it’s not confirmed yet from UFC, but that’s the – my next fight will be the title, so I think Alex (Pereira) is the very good chance to show the world a good title fight.”

Jiri concluded with: “And I like to see him like opponent in my next fight.”
