Jan Błachowicz criticised heavyweight champion Jon Jones for avoiding a fight with Tom Aspinall.
Jones has previously said he would rather face Alex Pereira instead of Aspinall who is the interim champion at heavyweight.
Błachowicz wasn’t too impressed with the champion and claimed Jones was scared of Aspinall.
Jan Błachowicz Criticises Jon Jones for Avoiding Tom Aspinall Fight
Since Jon Jones defended his belt against Stipe Miocic, many fans and fighters alike have stated Tom Aspinall must be next for Jones. However, the American has stated that he would rather face light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira and would relinquish his belt if it meant that the pair would clash. Following this, this has led to widespread criticism from both media and fighters.
Speaking to MMA Fighting Jan Błachowicz said; “I think [Jon Jones] does this because Alex Pereira is now a big star in the UFC. Everybody knows him. He knows what he’s doing. But I believe he should fight against Aspinall, but I think he’s a little bit afraid of him.
The Polish fighter went on to say; “Aspinall is someone who can really stop him and beat him. I think he believes if he can fight against Pereira. He can take him down, control him, maybe something like this. With Aspinall, it will be not so easy.”

Tom Aspinall is the new generation of heavyweight contenders making their name in the division. Long are the days gone where heavyweights would just stand and throw haymakers at one another. Fighters such as Cyril Gane and Tom Aspinall are the future of the sport given how agile and quick they are in the Octagon. Many fighters across all weight divisions believe that Aspinall is next in line for a title shot including Jan Błachowicz.
Aspinall did reiterate that the UFC hierarchy including Dana White has told him that he is next in line for a title fight. However, that all depends on Jon Jones if the American is willing to step into the octagon and face the Englishman.
