Pro Boxers React to Jake Paul Defeating Mike Tyson

Jake Paul’s victory over Mike Tyson in their eight-round boxing showdown has sparked plenty of discussion among professional boxers. The fight, held at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, ended with Paul winning by unanimous decision. Here’s how the boxing world reacted to this unexpected matchup.

The bout, scheduled for eight two-minute rounds, featured 58-year-old Tyson stepping into the professional ring for the first time since 2005. Jake Paul, on the other hand, entered with momentum, riding a four-fight win streak, including a TKO victory over Mike Perry earlier this year.

While Tyson showed flashes of his old self in the opening rounds, Paul’s youth and speed quickly took over. By round three, Paul’s dominance became evident as he controlled the fight, leading to a unanimous decision with scores of 80-72, 80-72, and 79-73.

No Surprise

Despite its controversies, the fight generated significant attention for boxing. Paul’s ability to headline events and bring fans into arenas has made him a polarizing figure in the sport. His victory over Tyson is another chapter in his unconventional boxing journey.

For Tyson, the fight was less about proving himself to others and more about personal accomplishment. “I didn’t prove nothing to anybody, only to myself,” Tyson said after the fight.

Paul also shared his perspective. “I was trying to hurt him a little bit. I was scared he was gonna hurt me. I did my best,” he said, reflecting on the balance between respect and competition.

The boxing community reacts:

I don’t like this stupid idiot kid but I will say this.. He stopped beating on Mike there and showed him some respect and dignity by letting him survive! He didn’t go for the KO there he stepped off him and let him be.. Mike we all adore you king your a super hero to all of us…

Why be so disrespectful Logan Paul?? “I’d kill you” do these idiots understand what the real
Mike Tyson would do to them! He’d beat them so bad they would beg for him to stop! Saying you’d kill a grandfather is tough isn’t it.. I 🙏 Mike stays safe..

WE are all to blame for this man!! We are all talking and watching! We have to stop this fool! Don’t tune into him until he fights someone who is fit healthy and not a grandfather! Any proper boxing people helping Paul need to look at themselves ffs!! This is just sad 😔

No point of that fight

Props to Tyson for going 8* at 58

Does jake feel bad for mike?

— Paul Malignaggi (@PaulMalignaggi) November 16, 2024

I love Mike Tyson, but they giving him too much credit. He looked like trash, to train that long and only throw 97 punches the whole fight is crazy. I’m just glad he didn’t get hurt out there.

— Terence Crawford (@terencecrawford) November 16, 2024

The fight has left fans wondering about the next steps for both fighters. Paul’s win adds credibility to his growing resume, with speculation swirling about his next opponent. For Tyson, the bout may have marked the end of his time in professional boxing, but his post-fight comments suggest he hasn’t ruled out future exhibitions.

“I don’t think so,” Tyson said when asked if he was done fighting, leaving the door open for more appearances in the ring.
