Israel Adesanya has shared a video on his YouTube channel of his reaction to teammate Alexander Volkanovski losing at UFC 298.

Heading into the bout Volkanovski was the reigning champion and undefeated at featherweight. His opponent Ilia Topuria, was 14-0 and extremely confident before the bout.

To the shock of many. Topuria’s confidence was proved to be true. When in the second round the Spanish-Georgian caught the champion with a huge hook. Dropping the Aussie to the canvas before finishing the fight with a few follow-up strikes.

With fans in attendance in awe of the spectacular performance Topuria had just displayed. Fans at home had a similarly shocked reaction. One such person was Israel Adesanya who shared his reaction to the Volkanovski loss online.

Israel Adesanya Reacts to Alexander Volkanovski Loss at UFC 298

With Adesanya from New Zealand training out of the famous City Kick Boxing gym. He and Volkanovski have a close bond and have trained together many times.

Sat watching the bout with his team and fellow fighters Dan Hooker and Tyson Pedro. As Volkanovski hit the canvas Adesanya and co all sat in shock with their hands on their heads.

Not quite believing what they were seeing. The surprise of the result is clear to see across all the faces in the room. He gave his brief analysis of the outcome, before applauding Volkanovski for his effort and post-fight humility.

Adesanya Looking to Bounce Back

A dominant champion in his own right. Adesanya can sympathise with Volkanovski losing his belt. Reigning at middleweight and claiming the scalp of many top contenders. Knocking back the likes of Robert Whittaker, Paulo Costa, Jared Cannonier and Marvin Vettori.

Adesanya was on the receiving end of his own shock knockout loss when former kickboxing for Alex Pereira came to MMA and defeated Adesanya via KO, shocking the MMA world. In the rematch, Adesanya regained his title with his own sensational KO. Before losing the title in another shocking defeat to Sean Strickland.

Adesanya looked to take time away from the sport following the loss. However, the New Zealand native may be tempted to return earlier to take on the newest champion Dricus Du Plessis.

Can Alexander Volkanovski replicate Israel Adesanya and avenge his KO loss to regain his title?
