Topuria Shades Pimblett’s Spending Habits
Ilia Topuria believes Paddy Pimblett‘s lavish UFC 314 afterparty has left him with empty pockets.
Paddy Pimblett secured the biggest win of his career at UFC 314 when he TKOd Michael Chandler in round 3.
To celebrate his emphatic victory, the Liverpudlian put on a private yacht party for his friends and family in Miami.
Ilia Topuria thinks that Pimblett’s mentions of the Georgian may be a byproduct of his extravagant spending.
Mocks Pimblett’s Recent Callouts
The former featherweight champion spoke to the press after WOW 19, a Spanish MMA promotion.
Topuria joked about ‘The Baddy’ and how he has recently thrown his name around in the media.
‘El Matador’ said: “Paddy Pimblett, he knows where the money is now, he has to pay for the parties he throws for himself.”
This comes in light of the recent announcement that Topuria will be fighting for the lightweight belt against Charles Oliveira at UFC 317.
Pimblett on the other hand, has eyed Justin Gaethje as his next opponent. Believing a win against the former interim champion will secure him a shot at UFC gold.
Pimblett’s Turmoil With Topuria
Speaking recently with TNT Sports, Pimblett discussed the prospect of a matchup with Topuria.
He said: “I think that apart from Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall, I think that’s the biggest fight the UFC could make. Me vs. Ilia – there’s loads of history in it. There’s bad blood, people love all that.”
The bad blood Pimblett speaks of can be traced back to UFC London in 2022.
An altercation in the fighter hotel saw water bottles and punches thrown between the two at the time, up and comers.
This altercation may have been the catalyst for a potential fight between the two Europeans.
