Ali Abdelaziz offered an update to MMA fans as to where a potential fight between Islam Makhachev and Jack Della Maddalena could take place.
The Australian who won the belt against Belal Muhammed could face the lightweight champion later this year.
Ali Abdelaziz, who manages Islam Makhachev, has stated how the Dagestan fighter wants to become a two-division champion.
Ali Abdelaziz Breaks Down Location for Super Fight
Islam Makhachev who is the current welterweight champion, has constantly stated how he would be willing to move up a division to compete. Following Jack Della Maddalena’s win this weekend, a super fight could be in store for UFC fans.
Speaking to Submission Radio, Ali Abdelaziz explained his view and said, “I already know, listen, it’s not. It might not even be in Abu Dhabi. This is a big enough fight that it’s going to be in New York, Madison Square Garden, or it’s going to be in Las Vegas. If they said it’s going to be in Abu Dhabi, but it’s not going to be in Perth or Australia or none of these places.
“In reality, Islam will be fighting for the welterweight title this year. JDM getting injured, getting sick, whatever happens to him, it’s going to be somebody else fighting Islam for the welterweight title… If JDM is not ready, Islam will be fighting someone else for the welterweight title.
“That’s what the UFC told me and I have no other reason not to believe that.”
Contenders Call Out New Champion Jack Della Maddalena
Following his victory this past weekend at UFC 315, the new champion has been called out by my contenders. This includes Belal Muhammad and Khamzat Chimaev, all wanting the opportunity to face the new champion.
However, Ali Abdelaziz believes a fight between Jack Della Maddalena and Islam Makhachev makes perfect sense. With both fighters being current champions and both without any fights, a deal could be made for the pair to face off later this year.
