Ian Garry stands firm, using the moment to address Sean Strickland and draw a line regarding his wife’s involvement.
The undefeated welterweight has faced criticism on multiple fronts, ranging from alleged gym expulsions to personal attacks. However, Garry’s performance inside the octagon tells a different story. With a flawless 6-0 record since joining the UFC, he has showcased his skills with a first-round stoppage of Daniel Rodriguez and decision victories over Neil Magny and Kenan Song in 2023.
Garry and Strickland have been engaging ever since the revelation that Layla Anna-Lee, 14 years senior to Ian Garry, authored a guidebook targeting young athletes and celebrities, the backlash was swift. Garry, known as ‘The Future,’ faced a barrage of hateful messages, notably from middleweight champion Sean Strickland. Strickland, also known as ‘Tarzan,’ took to social media, branding Anna-Lee a “predator.” Also calling out Garry to settle their differences in person. Garry responded by threatening legal action, subsequently making his social media channels private.
Ian Garry Hits Back at Sean Strickland
Recently Sean Strickland came on Theo von’s podcast and got emotional talking about his troubled childhood and the trauma coming from it and how Dricus Du Plessis pressed a nerve when he mentioned his abusive father in the press conference which led to later in the week physical altercation. Mentioning how certain topics shouldn’t be touched for trash talks.
To which Garry responded on MMA fighting’s Instagram post saying:
“How the tables have turned, you dish it out in the lowest most vile manner but can’t take a pinch, you attacked my wife incessantly and obsessively calling her a (p**ophile), it’s clear to see your childhood trauma showing. You claimed you were ‘giving me advice’ before, well now it’s my turn to return the favour. You should shut your mouth and focus on the mirror because you have enough serious issues you need to solve. I wish you all the best with them. Don’t ever project your pain onto me & family again. Happy New Year ”.
Future Reveals His 2024 Plans
Taking his Instagram Garry recently posted a video with J.Cole Middlechild background music and writing about his hitlist for 2024 in which he mentioned three MMA fighters. Garry’s targets include a matchup with Geoff Neal next month, Initially, the match was supposed to happen at UFC 292 but got cancelled as Garry’s opponent withdrew because of undisclosed health reasons.
Second on the list is Colby Covington, recently defeated by Leon Edwards in the title fight, who becomes the next target for Garry. Covington’s disrespectful comments about Garry’s wife and calling Garry a ‘Sensitive Soyboy’ added fuel to the fire. Third and lastly, the hit list features Sean Strickland, the middleweight champion, adding another layer to their ongoing feud.
