Henry Cejudo Believes Valentina Shevchenko Beat Alexa Grasso at UFC Noche

Valentina Shevchenko and Alexa Grasso performed this past Saturday in their women’s flyweight title rematch. It was an incredibly close contest with many different opinions on who should have got their hand raised. After the fight ended, there was a lot of controversy over the scoring of the battle. It is because Judge Mike Bell scored the final round 10-8 in favour of Grasso. Former two-weight champion Henry Cejudo believes that Shevchenko should have got her hand raised.

Valentina Shevchenko Vs Alexa Grasso 1

The fight was very close, with each fighter having moments during the contest. It is always interesting to see what adjustments there are for a rematch. The first meeting was also a close battle, with the Mexican fighter winning by submission. That result came as a surprise to many people as they expected Shevchenko to dominate the fight. Due to the fact her dominance over the flyweight division was immense and rarely seen inside the UFC octagon.

The Rematch

In the second fight, both fighters became more aggressive and tried to push the pace more than in their first encounter. When it came to power, Grasso seemed to have an advantage. The evidence for this was that Shevchenko hit the floor in the second round. However, it was clear that Shevchenko had much better wrestling as she managed to control Grasso for a portion of the fight. It is safe to say that we will see the two meet in the octagon once again.

Henry Cejudo Thought Valentina Shevchenko Won

Henry Cejudo is one of the greatest athletes we have ever seen in MMA. He is an Olympic gold medallist and a former flyweight and bantamweight champion. Cejudo’s knowledge of the fight game is unreal, and many people listen when he voices his opinion on the sport. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Cejudo explained that Shevchenko should have won the fight and slammed judge Mike Bell for scoring the bout the way he did.

“Does Alexa Grasso deserve to have a 10-8 round like it? To me, it doesn’t make any sense,” Cejudo said. “Did Alexa win the fifth round? 100 per cent. Was it a 10-8 round? Absolutely not. Mike Bell, you make me sick. You make me sick. You should retire from judging because you don’t know anything.”

“I have Alexa winning rounds two and five, and that’s it. And for what Valentina was able to do and the way she was kind of able to pap up her face, watching the fight as a whole, Valentina was the victor.”

Whatever happens next, it is going to be an exciting time in the flyweight division.
