Gervonta Davis solidified his place in the lightweight division with an 8th-round knockout of Frank Martin. However, it wasn’t Gervonta’s in-ring action that has people speaking.
The moment that had the internet interested is Davis’s post fight chat with previous foe Ryan Garcia.
Garcia, who was dressed in a unusual t-shirt with “Tanks #1 Fan” on the back saying “Rematch Me Bitch”. Garcia exchanged with the WBA lightweight champion.
Davis revealed to the media in the post fight conference what was said between the two.
He’s crazy, He’s crazy talking about rematch. He said I was the best at 135 to 142 [pounds]. He said he wants to fight me again. I’ll kick his ass again.
Davis won the first by a dominant TKO body shot in round 2 but Ryan has been campaigning for a rematch, especially after his win against WBC champion Devin Haney.
Garcia has been bathed in controversy since the win as ‘failed drug tests and failing to make weight’ have left the win poisoned.
Gervonta Davis Isn’t Interested in Garcia
Davis, despite the interest from Garcia, has little interest in a rematch and instead is setting his sights on Vasily Lomachenko and division boogeyman Shakur Stevenson.
“For sure,” he replied when asked if he was interested in fighting Lomachenko next.
I’m willing to fight all of them. My prediction? Ass whooping time.
Davis is also open to taking on Shakur Stevenson who most have called the boogeyman for Tank.
This isn’t the only controversy Garcia was involved in on fight night with an altercation with Caleb Plant in the crowd created a brawl between the two and their teams.
Th lightweight division looks like to be one of the hottest divisions in boxing at the moment and with Saudi Arabia and Turki Alalshikh sniffing around the lightweights it looks to be red hot for potential future bouts.
