Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on WhatsAppStart a discussion on Reddit

Another stellar show in the books for Cage Warriors as they delivered Glasgow a night to remember. Things didn’t always go the Scottish fighter’s way, but the crowd were still firmly behind their own. Now we can look back at every stoppage from the Cage Warriors 171 card.

Every stoppage from Cage Warriors 171: Glasgow

Featherweight – Cornellius Aritonang vs Thomas Hepburn

Result: Cornellius Aritonang Def. Thomas Hepburn via submission (rear-naked choke) Round 1, 1:05

At 3-0, Cornellius Aritonang is a prospect in the featherweight ranks at Cage Warriors. Stepping into enemy turf, the Indonesian stood toe to toe with grappling specialist Thomas Hepburn, gaining the advantage before securing the first-round rear-naked choke.

Light Heavyweight – Nell Ariano vs Jamie Macdonald

Result: Nell Ariano Def. Jamie Macdonald via TKO (punches) Round 2, 3:45

Another result to silence the crowd. Nell Ariano took out Scotland’s own Jamie McDonald, securing his first pro win as he moved to 1-0. Riding some hairy moments in the first, the debutant took over before scoring a TKO victory in the second round.

Result: Paul McBain Def. Alberth Dias via TKO (retirement) Round 2, 5:00

In a back-and-forth fight that arguably could have been Cage Warriors 171 fight of the night. Both men had their moments in a two-round war, but Paul McBain came out on top piling on the punishment as Alberth Dias retired after the second round.

Flyweight – Nicolas Leblond vs Scott Malone

Result: Nicolas Leblond Def. Scott Malone via TKO (punches) Round 3, 1:27

In complete control through the first two. It looked as if Scott Malone was on his way to scoring a unanimous decision victory at Cage Warriors 171. However, Nicolas Leblond had other ideas. Uncorking a huge left hand dropping his opponent before swarming for the finish.

Welterweight – Lucas Rodrigues vs Sean Clancy Jr

Result: Sean Clancy Jr Def. Lucas Rodrigues via TKO (punches) Round 2, 4:04

Lightweight – Dumitru Girlean vs Chris Bungard

Result: Dumitru Girlean Def. Chris Bungard via submission (guillotine) Round 2, 3:47

The Cage Warriors 171 main event delivered. Perhaps not the result the Scottish crowd would have liked. It was Italy’s Dumitru Girlean who played party pooper, as he defeated Chris Bungard with a nasty guillotine in the second round.
