Chris Eubank Jr Vs Conor Benn takes place on Saturday night and the curtains match the drapes in terms of undercard hype.
The Ring Magazine have outdone themselves this weekend putting on a stunning British fuelled undercard, playing bridesmaid to the main event bride.
The undercard includes ex world champions, budding young stars and all 50/50 fights.
Anthony Yarde Vs Lyndon Arthur Tops The Undercard
A rematch which will take place as the final fight before the main event are Lyndon Arthur and Anthony Yarde in a huge Light Heavyweight contest.
Yarde has been to the top of the mountain facing massive opponents like Artur Beterbiev and Sergey Kovalev for world honours but this time he will be returning to a familiar foe who he has already faced twice. Anthony Yarde will take on Lyndon Arthur a fight many weren’t expecting after he was in talks to take on Joshua Buatsi since Buatsi’s win last year against Dan Azeez. Arthur has taken a lot of criticism since for his dealings around his contract and his lack of activity whilst in between. His most recent fight was a points victory against Ralfs Vilcans who is far below the standard Yarde is used to facing.
On the other hand Lyndon Arthurs most recent opponent and victory has looked more impressive as time goes by, Arthur beat Liam Cameron in a split decision victory in the middle of last year. Cameron has since gone on to have two well documented fights against Ben Whittaker. Arthur has his own host of world level opponents including a loss to king of the Light Heavyweights Dimitri Bivol. Lyndon also comes into the fight off the back of losing to Yarde via KO the last time the two fought but also has a split decision victory in the twos first bout.
Both will be looking to win the best of three series but who will come out on top. Will it be King Arthur pulling the sword out of stone or will Anthony Yarde be the king slayer?
Liam Smith Vs Aaron McKenna
The next fight sees a tale of old guard vs new school. Aaron McKenna is the new kid on the block looking to take down the gatekeeper to world honours in Liam Beefy Smith.
Aaron McKenna is 19-0-0 and is will aim for Liam Smiths head and name on his record to move towards world honours. He has built himself up to that record by beating some decent names including Uisima Lima and Mickey Ellison but will look to solidify his record against a massive name like Liam Smith.
Smith on the other side is massive name who has captured world honours and fought for them for years now. His most notable win was an upset KO victory over the headliner Chris Eubank Jr, he has since lost the rematch but is looking to make a stand as the tough fighter he is. Smith wont go away easily with a very robust tough Liverpudlian style which has got him into fights with the likes of Canelo Alvarez.
New generation vs World experience. Will McKenna see true Irish glory or will Liam Smith remind the world of his ability?
Chris Billam Smith Vs Brandon Glanton
Cruiserweight’s Chris Billam Smith and Brandon Glanton have identical records and the similarity’s don’t stop there with both looking to return to world title bouts after frustrating loses.
Chris Billam Smith AKA the Gentleman has built a very tidy career for himself since losing early on to fellow Brit Richard Riakporhe. Billam Smith has since climbed to the top of the mountain, with the help of his Bournemouth faithful fanbase, to win the WBO world title in his hometown stadium against now Heavyweight Lawrence Okolie. Smith has struggled at world level but has had some great marquee moments, He beat Richard Riakporhe to defend his title in a rematch, He beat Mateusz Masternak in a homecoming bout but unfortunately failed to defeat the tough Gilberto Ramirez. Smith was on the wrong side of a beatdown where he showed a lot of heart to take Ramirez to a decision victory.
Brandon Glanton is a USA based boxer who has seen the title fights like Smith but has failed to get his hands on his own title. Glanton lost to well known David Light and Soslan Asbarov in back to back fights which de railed any potential world title aspirations that he may have had but has since rebuilt. With 3 TKO/KO wins on the bounce Glanton will look to return to the USA with a ex world champion on his record and his career steadied.
Both have something to prove but will it be the ‘Bulletproof’ Glanton who prevails or will it be the Gentleman Chris Billam Smith who takes the victory on home soil?
Viddal Riley Vs Cheavon Clarke Opens The Undercard
My pick for the fight which will steal the show is the very first one up. We stick in the Crusierweight division which sees the BBBofC title on the line for Clarke Vs Riley.
Riley is more commonly known as KSI’s trainer but has put recently put his own name on the map as a very competent boxer. The 27 year old is 12-0-0 and already has some good names under his belt including Mikael Lawal. Riley’s career as of recent has been hampered with injury and cancellations (some out of his control) but he will be looking to remind the world of his talents Saturday by beating fellow countryman Chev Clarke.
Chev ‘C4’ Clarke is 10-1-0 with a great resume himself. Clarke has beaten Ellis Zorro and Tommy McCarthy making him a great British prospect but has fauletered recently against the surprising arrival of Leonardo Mosquea who managed to defeat Clarke in Monaco last year. C4 has dynamite in his hands and will look to ruin the chances of Viddal Riley winning on his hallowed Tottenham Hotspurs turf.
Will Spurs fan Viddal Riley soar in the sky Saturday night or will the C4 blow up the dreams of a hometown win?
