As Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaejthe prepare to collide at UFC 291 to determine who the UFCâs baddest mother f***** is, Poirier has issued Nate Diaz a stern warning if heâs to return to the UFC.
Nate Diaz parts ways with UFC
After his fourth round submission victory over Tony Ferguson at UFC 279, the Stockton native used his time on the mic with Joe Rogan to confirm that he feels thereâs some business to take care of outside the organization, but intends to be back.
That business came apparent just weeks later. The 38-year-old will make his boxing debut against Jake Paul, 26, in a bout that will be contested over 10 rounds at the American Airlines Center in Dallas on August 5th. The bout will take place at 185 pounds and headline a pay-per-view event co-promoted by DAZN and Diazâs Real Fight Inc.
When asked about Diazâs upcoming boxing debut, Poirier sided with the newcomer.
âNate does have good boxing, but itâs unorthodox and it works well for MMA â small gloves, pitty-pat punches in that range. But with boxing gloves, things are different. Timings different. Range is a little bit different. Jake is a big, athletic young kid. If I had to put money on it, I would put it on Jake.â
Dustin Poirier Issues Diaz Warning Ahead of UFC 291
Despite being days away from competing for the UFCâs BMF belt, Poirier continues to have Diaz on the tip of his tongue. The pair were set to collide at UFC 230 in Maddison Square Garden. However, terms could not be agreed. Speaking ahead of UFC 291, Poirier has issued Diaz a warning for his potential return.
âLike I always say, I donât look too far ahead and book myself in fights that arenât even realistic or a possibility, until other things happen.
âIf he (Nate Diaz) comes back, Iâll beat him up.âÂ
