The Last Dance for Derek Chisora takes place this Saturday as he takes on the Swiss Otto Wallin over ten rounds in Manchester, with a stacked undercard featuring.
Derek Chisora vs Otto Wallin: Preview
Derek Chisora returns this Saturday as part of his ‘Last Dance’. This is because it’s his last expected fight in the United Kingdom, coming to the end of his special career. Saturday will be fight 49 for Derek Chisora, and he’ll be looking for his 36th win. Chisora will be looking to keep momentum after his big win over Joe Joyce at the 02 Arena last year.
Standing in the other corner will be (27-2) Otto Wallin. Wallin is most known for his losses, they came to Tyson Fury who Wallin had a horror cut. The latest is Anthony Joshua, who dominantly stopped Wallin. However, since then Wallin did pick up a KO win last year over (20-4) Onoriode Ehwarieme. It’s a tough fight for Chisora, and many see it as a poor matchmaking fight of this last dance. However, you can never rule out Derek, and it’s still a very intriguing matchup.
Chisora vs Wallin: Chief Support
Unfortunately, the chief support was cancelled just yesterday due to Willy Hutchinson suffering a shoulder injury. He was scheduled to face Zach Parker in a domestic clash at light-heavyweight who could still feature on the undercard as a new opponent is being sought. However, there’s still a lot going on with the undercard.
The upgraded to chief support fight sees (11-0) Masood Abdulah take on (15-1) Zak Miller for the featherweight Commonwealth strap. A very strong domestic clash, that many see as a 50/50 affair.
The Undercard
Further down on the card sees another domestic clash this time for the British title as (24-0) Jack Rafferty who scored a surprise win vs Liverpool’s Henry Turner last year takes on Reece MacMillan. Originally Jack was scheduled to face Kane Gardner, however after the announcement Kane had a scheduled fight with MacMillan, and suffered a shock points defeat much to Kane’s denial. So it’s a huge opportunity for Reece to prove his worth on the big platform.
The card also sees the return of huge ticket seller Nathan Heaney. The Stoke star is always an exciting watch. He takes on (17-5) Sofiane Khati in his return bout after his stoppage defeat in the rematch vs Brad Paul last year. Nathan will be looking to put himself back on the map for domestic honours later this year.
Another heavyweight clash features this time on the undercard. We see the European title on the line as (19-0) Nelson Hysa defends his strap vs (12-0) Todorche Cvetkov. It’s unlikely to go the distance as Hysa has 17 knockouts from 19 wins, and Cvetkov has 9 knockouts from 12 wins.
As we move further down the card we see the showcase of Queensberry’s prospects as Lewis Williams, Joe Cooper, Walter Fury and Jermaine Dhliwayo all feature.
It’s set to be a blockbuster night in Manchester this Saturday, live on TNT Sports, time TBC.
