Delicious Orie disappoints in his professional boxing debut on Heavy Impact Card and Dazn Queensbury debut.
Orie cruised to an easy points victory in his first professional bout. The Olympian didn’t quite set the world alight in his first fight but looked a level above his journeyman opponent.
The British Heavyweight looked solid with a very good boxing build but didn’t quite manage to catch that knockout blow. Orie seemingly struggled a little with translating his power from the amateurs to the pro scene.
Orie spent the first round throwing heavy shots with a much wider stance than he had in the amateur but showed great range of his skills.
The second saw Delicious Orie use the faints more and try to bait Veletic in. Orie struggled a little to adapt to the pro game but the steel city gym trainer Grant Smith gave him a bettering in the corner. They told Orie to stop giving Veletic respect.
Third was more of the same but with some bigger shots but seems to struggle a little with finding clean power shots.
Round 4 was a lot more positive from Orie finding a few headshots but aiming was too much to the head and needs to throw some shots to the body. He had Veletic struggling towards the end of the round but goes the full distance in his first professional fight.
Delicious Orie Amateur Background-
The heavyweight debutant was a decorated amateur winning the European games in 2023 and the commonwealth games in 2022.
Orie also represented the Great Britain team in the 2024 Olympics and was a highly anticipated prospect but failed to get past the first round.
He lost to Armenian Davit Chaloyan via a split decision who went on to lose the falling round.
Orie was one of the more popular talents from the last crop of Olympic boxers even earning himself a national advertisement role with Aldi.
He might need to up the entertainment level in his next fight if he wants to continue his momentum into the professional scene.
Despite this relatively disappointing debut he can take positives in his performance and will take valuable experience from going 4 rounds.
