Dave Portnoy celebrated Bryce Mitchell being choked out at UFC 314 this weekend.
Mitchell, who has now lost two of his last three fights in the UFC, was choked out by Jean Silva.
Portnoy, who owns Barstool Sports, was unhappy with comments the featherweight made about the Jewish community.
Dave Portnoy Celebrates UFC Fighter Losing
As Jean Silva secured a submission victory over Bryce Mitchell at UFC 314, the crowd erupted. One person who was particularly excited and seen celebrating was Dave Portnoy. The Barstool owner was seen jumping up and down, waving a Jewish flag and supporting a yarmulke. Writing on X (formerly Twitter) Dave Portnoy said; “Always fun to see a Hitler lover get his ass whopped.”
Following an episode released on his podcast, Bryce Mitchell made several anti-Semitic comments and praised Hitler. As a result, there was a huge outrage across the world with MMA fans and fighters wanting the American to be released from the promotion.
The podcast video, which has since been taken down, was followed by an apology from Mitchell, and Dana White publicly criticised the featherweight for his comments. Dave Portnoy did want the UFC to release Mitchell from the organisation.
Bryce Mitchell Suffers Second Loss in Three Fights
Once regarded as the hottest prospect in the featherweight division, Bryce Mitchell has lost two of his last three fights. The American, who is known for his grappling capability, has seen his stock fall. Having been brutally KO’d by Josh Emmett, Mitchell bounced back with a KO over Kron Gracie. It didn’t help that comments made by Mitchell led many of his fans to stop supporting him, including Dave Portnoy.
However, the American was unable to build on his last performance as Jean Silva dominated the fight. The Brazilian was able to secure a submission in round four. Mitchell needs a strong performance in his next fight so he can establish himself as a contender in the featherweight division.
