This Saturday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Cory McKenna will face off against Miranda Granger at UFC Fight Night: Santos vs Hill.
The fighter nicknamed ‘Poppins’ is looking to bounce back after experiencing her first loss inside the UFC strawweight division. This will be her 3rd fight with the promotion, and the Welsh fighter is looking forward to putting on a performance of a lifetime to start a significant winning streak. McKenna recently spoke with CombatSportsUK’s James Lynch in an exclusive interview about the upcoming title fight with Miranda Granger.
On asked about her opponent Miranda Granger, McKenna stated that:
“She is pretty well rounded, but she isn’t necessarily a specialist from whatever I have seen. Her last fight on the card was up against Ashley Yoder when I had my UFC debut against Kay Hansen. It’s a good matchup on paper. I think it’s a good fight wherever it goes. It’s not like she is the best grappler. It’s going to be two mixed martial arts fighters going in there and see how the fight goes.”
Cory McKenna Talks High Level Fight Preparation
On asked about her fight camp in Team Alpha Male, she mentioned the progress she has made in her training with the likes of Maycee Barber & Yan Xionan. In reference to the fight camp, she stated :
“We got a lot of girls and small guys in the gym. I had Maycee Barber & Yan Xionan, and I also trained with Tina, who fought on the Contender Series. I had some tough rounds with her. There are some high-level & borderline UFC high-level guys I trained with, and obviously, my coaches Urijah Faber, Danny Castillo & Joey Rodriguez. It’s going to be fun to go over there and put it on display.”
On asked about the lifestyle of living in the US, she stated:
“Just the lifestyle, I am happy, I got good people around me. Everything is just clicking, I won’t say I prefer the US over the UK, but with my lifestyle and what I am doing, this is the best bet for me.”
