Conor McGregor Cut From Proper Number 12 Irish Whiskey After Nikita Hand Civil Rape Case

Irish MMA fighter Conor McGregor has been left by Irish whiskey brand Proper Number 12. Formerly the face of the brand, he’s been removed following his recent civil case against Nikita Hand.

As a result of the case McGregor must pay €248,000 in damages to Nikita Hand. Despite the court order, McGregor remains adamant the allegations are false and claims he is going to take legal action to clear his name.

The verdict of the case led to Proper Number 12 whiskey being removed from the shelves of leading supermarkets. Supermarkets such as Tesco, Supervalu, Centra and Costcutter all distanced themselves from the brand.

Proximo Spirits bought 100% of the company back in 2021 for 130 million dollars but continued marketing the product through McGregor. However, in the fallout of the civil rape case, today they decided to cut ties with the Irishman:

“Since 2021, Proximo Spirits has been the 100pc owner of Proper No 12 Irish Whiskey.” Adding, “Going forward, we do not plan to use Mr McGregor’s name and likeness in the marketing of the brand.”

The first to cut ties to McGregor was Musgrave, owners of Supervalu and Centra. The Musgrave brand owns over 1,250 stores worldwide, resulting in a considerable knock-on effect for Proper Number 12.

McGregor’s Response

Whilst no longer being the face of Proper Number 12 will be damaging, further affected will be McGregor’s own Forged Irish Stout, which too has been removed from supermarket shelves. Speaking out following the case McGregor stated that he aims to appeal the civil rape case with his legal team.

In a statement made on X he said:

“People want to hear from me, I needed time. I know I made mistakes. Six years ago, I should have never responded to her outreaches. I should have shut the party down. I should never have stepped out on the woman I love the most in the world. That’s all on me. As much as I regret it, everything that happened that night was consensual and all the witnesses present swore to that under oath. I have instructed my legal team to appeal the decision, I can’t go back and I will move forward. I am beyond grateful to my family, friends and supporters all over the world who have stayed by my side. That’s it. No more. Getting back to the gym- the fight game awaits!”

With retailers cutting ties with Conor McGregor, it is uncertain whether BKFC and the UFC will follow suit or not.
