Callum Simpson is set to headline a packed out Oakwell stadium this Saturday as at the top of a Boxxer card.
Simpson has been on fire behind his Barnsley mass support, beating Zak Chelli for British and commonwealth Middleweight titles.
The Barnsley massive have been behind Simpson all of his career including his two bouts this year happening in back to back months.
Simpson has been very active this year fighting Steed Woodall in January then fighting Elvis Ahorgah the following month in February.
Both ended with a stoppage win, in the 2nd and then the 5th round respectively.
The Super Middleweight is building himself quite the consistent resume in an attempt at world titles next year.
“I’ve won the British and I’ve won the Commonwealth, European’s the next step. After that we push on for world titles next year,”
Simpson has been clear in letting his fans know his support is well noticed and felt.
“I’ve grown up watching Josh Warrington at Leeds Arena or Kell Brook at Sheffield Arena. I didn’t realise the capacity there was 10,000.
We’ll be doing 15,000 [on Saturday],”
He claims that being in the same sentence as Brook and Warrington is ‘crazy’.
Callum Simpson Is In Great Company-
“It’s pretty crazy. Kell Brook [at Bramall Lane] was for the world title, Josh Warrington was doing stadiums for the world title, whereas me, l did it for the British and Commonwealth, which is unheard of and I’m doing it for the European.
“To be doing those numbers for the European title, it’s something special. It’s credit to my supporters, it’s credit to Barnsley and my community, they’re getting behind me.”
Callum Simpson has one of the best supports in the country but claims they aren’t his fans but his people.
“They’re not fans. They’re my people, my community,” he explained. “I’m one of their own and that’s it. I’ve not changed who I am. I’m just a normal working-class Barnsley lad, Yorkshire lad, who’s worked very, very hard to get to where l’ve got to and where I’m going. I’ll never change. I support my community in any way I can and because they’ve seen that, they get behind me.”
Simpson is one of his people and says he is a normal lad who’s just working hard to achieve what he set out.
“I’m one of them. A normal lad and I work hard to achieve my dreams.”
