Callum Simpson to Headline Barnsley’s Stadium in the Summer

Callum Simpson has confirmed he will headline Barnsley’s ‘Oakwell’ Stadium this summer. This would be Simpsons second appearance at the stadium, but this time it’s set to be record breaking.

Callum Simpson will return to Oakwell Stadium this summer, the Barnsley hero confirmed this after his second successive stoppage win in just three weeks. Simpson headlined his hometown Barnsley’s stadium last year in a fight versus Zak Chelli for the British title. Simpson won via UD in a dominant performance.

However just 1/4 of the stadium was open, and sold out within days with many fans unhappy. But to their happiness, Simpson has confirmed that the full stadium will be open for his big summer homecoming.

Callum Simpson returned on Saturday just three weeks after defending his British & Commonwealth Titles with a RD1 stoppage over domestic contender Steed Woodall. He then returned Saturday to save the Azim vs Lipinets undercard. Simpson succeeded with a fifth round stoppage over his game opponent, only his commonwealth title was on the line.

Simpsons Opponent

After his win on Saturday, Simpson confirmed the news then named multiple opponents including WBO #1 Diego Pacheco, and even spouted Canelos name. Lots of talk has been on Mark Jeffers who has been on the radar of Simpson for a very long time, and many want to fight. However his promoter Ben Shalom in an interview has stated his opponent could be an “American opponent” Who is a “former world champion”. This could tell us that Shalom is looking past Jeffers and wants Simpson to take a big leap up into world contention this summer. Simpson has mentioned Liam Cameron multiple times. Stating it as a Barnsley vs Sheffield Derby, but Cameron is busy pursuing his deserved rematch vs Ben Whittaker.
