Cage Warriors returns to the Emerald Isle for the second time this year after a successful 153 event back in April. Ireland’s own prodigy Paul Hughes headlines the card against ferocious Lightweight Jan Quaeyhaegens, as the Irishman targets either a second Cage Warriors belt or a UFC contract.
Hughes claimed the featherweight belt in a war with Jordan Vucenic back in November last year but has since been inactive. Hughes has a 9-1-1 record with his sole defeat being to Vucenic whom he avenged his loss to last time out. Additionally, he boasts wins over the supremely talented Morgan Charriere who impressed in the UFC last month, and dominant wrestler James Hendin who just beat Tobias Harila 2 weeks ago. Many fans have been awaiting an announcement from the UFC signing the prospect but nothing has materialised so he now steps up to lightweight to take on streaking Belgian Quaeyhaegens. He brings a 100% finish rate to the cage this Saturday with eight KOs and three submissions.
Mason Jones is in the co main, this is the second stint in the organisation for the Welshman after a mixed set of results in the UFC with a record of 1-2-1. In July he came back to the organisation where he held double champ status and a perfect 9-0 record. He put on a brilliant performance and impressive first round mauling of Alexandre Riberio. He faces Yann Liasse who is coming off a dominant loss against current Lightweight king George Hardwick. A win here for Jones and he is heading towards a shot at reclaiming a belt that was his only a few years ago.
