A 14-fight card with fights on either side of the entertainment scale. The event saw some big performances and some even bigger finishes. We look at the biggest winners from the Hermansson Vs Pyfer fight night card.
Jack Hermansson
The first man we take a look at is main event winner Jack Hermansson. Returning to the cage for the first time in over a year. Hermansson had a lot of pressure on his shoulders entering the fight off of a loss.
Taking on an unranked Pyfer and risking his number 11 ranking in the process. Hermansson would put on an excellent five-round display, proving there are levels to the upper echelon of the division. Pyfer started well, however, once the fight entered the third round it was almost all Hermansson from there.
Hermansson answers any doubters in a big way. Out-pointing the dangerous striker and looking comfortable and composed for the full five rounds.
Dan Ige
Our second big winner from Hermansson Vs Pyfer was co-main event victor Dan Ige. Also entering this bout off a loss. Ige was set the task of taking on former training foe Andre Fili.
With Fili doubting Ige’s ability from previous sparring experiences with the Hawaiian, Fili thought he had this fight in the bag. Ige had other ideas landing a picture-perfect overhand right dropping Fili to the mat.
Another highlight KO for the growing compendium of nasty finishes for Ige. He secured another fifty thousand dollars bonus.
Gregory Rodrigues
While there were certainly other contenders with big performances last night. Our final winner from Hermansson Vs Pyfer has to go to ‘Robocop’ Gregory Rodrigues.
Taking on the UFC middleweight with the now most join fights in the division, Brad Tavares. Rodrigues had a tough test and the perfect yardstick to test his ability against the middleweight elite.
Passing the test with flying colours. The Brazilian would barrage Tavares with heavy punches before securing a third-round TKO. A stoppage victory over durable competition like Tavares sets Rodrigues up to test his might against a top-15 opponent next.
