News broke today as UFC president Dana White took to Instagram to announce three huge fights for UFC 304 in Manchester. The UFC 304 main event will see Belal Muhammad challenge Leon Edwards for the Brit’s welterweight strap. Despite being one half of the huge UK-based main event, Belal Muhammad was surprised by the announcement as a teammate videoed him in camp.

After completing what looked like a heavy training session, one of Muhammad’s coaches or training partners said Dana White had said something on Instagram. Initially bemused, Muhammad was elated once the news was revealed and was met with surrounding congratulations from his teammates.
In the video, UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev can be seen embracing Muhammad as a round of applause rings around. Also in the video is Usman Nurmagomedov who holds the Bellator lightweight belt.

A fight that Muhammad has been asking for, for the best part of three years. These two fighters have been on a collision course since their previous meeting. With the prior bout ending via no contest due to an unintentional eye poke, there were still some unanswered questions surrounding the outcome should the foul not have happened.
Now both Belal Muhammad and Leon Edwards have the chance to provide answers come UFC 304. Since their previous meeting, they have gone a combined nine unbeaten. Five wins for Muhammad and four for the now welterweight champion Leon Edwards.
Many fans may question Muhammad as a main event fighter due to his perceived style not being fan-friendly. However, there is no denying Belal Muhammad has worked extremely hard and is the most deserving welterweight to earn an opportunity at UFC 304.
Leon Edwards looks to fight off another tough grappler as he did last time out when he put on a clinic to defeat Colby Covington. Still unhappy with how the last fight ended with his UFC 304 foe. Edwards wants to silence Muhammad once and for all.
