UFC legend and Former Middleweight champion Anderson Silva has shown his respect to Khalil Rountree Jr for his UFC 307 performance
Khalil Rountree Jr dared to be great at the weekend in the main event against Alex “Poatan” Pereira at UFC 307. Looking to take the strap from Light-Heavyweight champion Pereira, Rountree made a massive leap up the rankings.
Coming off an emphatic knockout win over Anthony Smith Rountree Jr sat at #8 in the rankings. When granted a title shot from the UFC, fans and media alike questioned the UFC’s decision.
Khalil answered all those questions, and despite losing the fight he displayed incredible championship heart. He showed great durability to weather a “Poatan” storm that would have many out on their feet in an instant.

Anderson Silva Showers Khalil Rountree Jr With Praise After UFC 307
In a post on Instagram, Anderson Silva showered both fighters with praise for their title fight performances.
It read:
“I could say countless things about this incredible battle between these two giants. In my opinion, the perfect world would be not seeing my brother and my friend fighting. But on the other hand, that’s how the sport is. Alex, you were impeccable, on an incredible rise. Congratulations, my friend.”
He went on to highlight how much he appreciates Khalil Rountree Jr, stating:
“As for my little brother Khalil, I am so proud of you, my brother. Thank you so much for being part of my life. Those who know your story know who you truly are: you are a giant. You walk away from this battle as a winner because you showed that fighting at a high level is not for just anyone.
Congratulations to both of you. May GOD bless you both. Khalil, don’t forget that only a few like us have the courage to fight the good fight. Strength and honor today and always!“
Receiving such praise from a legend like Anderson Silva will go a long way for Khalil. Despite coming up short he lit up the arena, put on a memorable war and earned the fight of the night bonus.
