Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua have been the focus of fight rumours for the past decade without facing off in the ring.
Fury has been retired since January this year following a second defeat to Oleksandr Usyk last year.
Domestic rival Joshua has also fallen short at the highest level losing another all British clash to Daniel Dubois.
Since both have suffered losses, talk of the pair finally clashing on the biggest stage has run rampant.
A rumour of a deal on the table was dismissed by the Gypsy King in a social media video.
Now during his trip to Istanbul for the IBA Pro fight night, he has been asked about facing off with AJ.
Speaking to SecondsOut, he said: “We aren’t going to end up nose to nose, what for?
“I’m retired and he’s at the end of his career, so what would we be nose to nose for.”
He was also questioned in the media scrum on if he had any regrets about the fight not materialising.
Fury said: “No I don’t, I don’t regret anything, life is too short for regrets.”
Fury gives bold assessment of Jake Paul’s Anthony Joshua callout
Joshua’s name hasn’t just been centred around the Morecambe fighter in the past week – it has also been a focus of Jake Paul.
The influencer won his bout against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr on Saturday night by unanimous decision.
In the post fight interview Paul made his intentions to fight other long time professionals clear.
He said: “I am definitely not a heavyweight but I am still going to take the challenge.
“Anthony Joshua is an insane fight but I would want that challenge, we have been dming back and forth.
“He wants to make it happen, he called me up and it is looking very likely for next year.”
When asked by Pro Boxing Fans his thoughts on the clash, Fury was short and sharp with his verdict.
He said: “I think it’s a good fight, I think it is a 50/50 fight.”
While it may seem like a ludicrous fight we have seen strange things in the sport over the past few years.
Many have come with Jake Paul including his recent ranking in the WBA Top 15.
But both sides are not dismissing this clash happening next year in what would be a huge spectacle.
