British heavyweight prodigy Moses Itauma has had his next fight announced and will headline against Dillian Whyte. Itauma has been on a path of destruction making waves in the heavyweight scene. The skill Itauma has shown, despite only 12 fights and 20 years of age, he’s ready for high-level opposition. He will now be fighting the biggest name he’s come across Dillian Whyte. Whyte although being past his best is very well known in the UK and in his prime was a world level fighter.
Itauma vs Whyte
The fight is scheduled for August 16th and will be headlining a card in Riyadh. This will be Itauma’s opportunity to build his stardom significantly against a big name in Whyte. in terms of an actual match up it will likely be entertaining with Dillian’s come forward action style and Itauma’s youth a and skill will gel very well. Itauma has the superior footwork, speed, power, head movement, athleticism and has fewer miles on the clock. Whyte despite being past his best he is always game and ready to bring it.
Most likely, Moses Itauma will be able to secure an early KO. However, Whyte has the experience and heart to give Itauma some problems. The fight will be fun for as long as it lasts and build Itauma’s profile. If Itauma wins emphatically, he is in a great position to start fighting contenders and start taking big names in the division. But, if Whyte win’s he’s straight back into the mix at the world level.
The bright lights and pressure will be on for Moses Itauma to perform and we will see how he rises to the occasion. Itauma vs Whyte wasn’t the only fight announced with the undercard also being announced.
Undercard
Itauma vs Whyte isn’t the only heavyweight clash with Filip Hrgovic vs David Adeleye. Hrgovic managed to re-establish his name with his short notice win over Joe Joyce. Hrgovic did look like his usual self but seemed to display more grit than usual. This more motivated Hrgovic could be a problem but first he must get past Adeleye. Adeleye recently scraped past Jaime TKV being comprehensively outboxed until getting a KO. Hrgovic has a solid chin and is more technically skilled and should win but Adeleye does posses decent power.
Nick Ball will also be defending his WBA featherweight world title against Sam Goodman. Goodman will be moving up for what will no doubt be a fun scrap. Ball always brings the heat with his relentless pressure and power. Goodman will be moving up a weight class to take on Ball. Goodman is not an ideal opponent being neither a featherweight contender or another champion. Nonetheless it will be enteraining.
However, there is a great fight scheduled between Anthony Cacace and Ray Ford at super featherweight. Despite neither man currently being world champion at super featherweight, they are high-level. Cacace has enjoyed a later career resurgence, dethroning Joe Cordina for the IBF title; however vacated it. But, he still proceeded to beat world-class opposition in Josh Warrington and Leigh Wood. Ford is another high-calibre opponent who has the skill to match Cacace. This is the most 50/50 fight on the card and will deliver.
The card also has super featherweight Japanese prospect Hayato Tsutsumi. He will be facing British-level fighter Qais Ashfaq. This is a slight step down in competition but will serve as a suitable introduction of Tsutsumi to a broader audience. This card will be a fun one and we shall see how it turns out come August.
