Heavyweight Moses Itauma faces a quick return for his next bout but two heavyweight rivals are out the running.
The 20-year-old demolished Mike Balogun in two rounds leaving him flat on the canvas on the Josh Taylor undercard.
But a rest is not on the cards for this rising star as Frank Warren confirmed his next fight date.
Itauma will be back on the Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois undercard on July 19th at Wembley Stadium.
Opponents for the heavyweight division’s next big thing have been hard to come by.
Warren spoke to Ring Magazine following the fast finish to rule out an outspoken fighter for the Itauma return.
He said: “I don’t know why everybody keeps going on about Bakole.
“I look at his list of opponents, and he hasn’t really fought anyone, so I don’t know where that talk of him fighting Moses has come from.”
“And why would I want to give them the money they are asking for?”
It was clear the Hall of Fame promoter was not looking in Bakole’s direction and stated he ‘cares’ about Itauma.
Itauma fast return but won’t be rushed
Moses Itauma in his quick return will not be able to live up to his promotion of becoming the youngest heavyweight champion.
Unfortunately he could not achieve this record but it hasn’t stopped conversations of throwing him in the deep end.
Another name with an interim title was ruled out of his speedy comeback for two reasons.
“Parker is the WBO interim champion right now, so that won’t happen on July 19,” Warren said.
“We couldn’t afford to do it on the undercard at Wembley.
“We could have rolled the dice and got Moses a world title shot, but his career is a marathon, not a sprint.”
For people in the Itauma business it is all about ‘learning his trade’ but there is huge confidence in his ability.
World championships are still in his eyeline in the coming year or two.
Warren said: “He’s really not far off the world title, and when he gets there, we want him to stay there.
Confirmation of the prospects foe will be revealed in the coming weeks with Queensbury exploring multiple options.
