Keyshawn Davis has brutally revealed the fellow lightweight boxer who he believes is afraid to fight him.
The current WBO champion feels Teofimo Lopez – the former undisputed lightweight champion – fears facing him.
Who does Keyshawn Davis believe fears him in the ring?
Lopez’ highly-rated resume, with wins over the like of Vasiliy Lomachenko and Josh Taylor, was not enough to impress Davis
The American will defend his WBO lightweight title in a clash against Edwin De Los Santos on June 7, in Norfolk, Virginia, but showed no hesitation in making his feelings clear about Lopez.
In an interview with FightHype, Davis said: “Teo is so f—–g scared of me.
The fight on Saturday will be the outspoken American’s first defence of his WBO strap, and his first hometown title fight.
Davis’ journey to become amongst the elite of the division was quick one.
The 26-year-old won the title in just his 14th professional fight in February this year.
His triumph came in devastating fashion as he stopped Denys Berinchyk in the fourth round in Madison Square Garden with a sickening body shot.
His victory ignited talks of potential mouth-watering showdowns with the likes of fellow lightweight champions Gervonta Davis and Lomachenko.
But ‘The Businessman’ seems to have his eye on the Mexican.
Davis added: “He wanna move up to 147 because he knows I’m on his ass. I can’t keep chasing people. At this point, I don’t wanna keep bullying him.”
Lopez’ next steps:
It is unclear who Lopez will be fighting next, as his unofficially announced fight against Devin Haney has now been called off.
The Ring’s Mike Coppinger broke the news via X, and said: “Negotiations have collapsed for a proposed fight between Devin Haney and Teofimo Lopez on Aug. 16 in Riyadh, [The Ring] has learned.
“Haney and Teofimo both scored wide-decision wins on May 2 in Times Square.”
Devin Haney also took to X in order to address the cancelled Lopez fight.
Haney said: “The fight with Teo is not signed! I signed my part and Teo has been stalling. As of today, he does not want to fight me and he is officially the biggest [duck].”
