Newly crowned bantamweight champion Kayla Harrison described the weight cut for UFC 316.

Meanwhile, the American has called out UFC legend Amanda Nunes after UFC 316.

Kayla Harrison now adds a UFC belt to her two PFL titles and two Olympic medals.

Kayla Harrison Describes Brutal Weight Cut

After winning the women’s bantamweight title, Kayla Harrison shared with fans how she prepared for this fight. Whilst many athletes cut weight, Harrison provided a detailed insight into what happens behind the scenes. Speaking to Bloody Elbow, Kayla Harrison said, “Every single day for the last 12 weeks, I haven’t missed a single day of running, walking, swimming, or biking six miles,” Harrison shared.

“And on Sunday I do eight miles. For the last 12-15 weeks I’ve been on a diet, I’d only eat food that’s in my fridge from my chief and my nutritionist, and I’ll have 1 scoop of peanut butter when I feel like I’m going to pass out or dying for some sugar.

I’ve been through some stuff, but who I became as a result of that stuff, my spirit is unbreakable. My faith is unshakeable, and I’m proud of that and that’s what this belt represents.”

Champion Calls Out Amanda Nunes Out of Retirement

Following UFC 316, Kayla Harrison used the opportunity on the mic to call out Amanda Nunes. The former champion has retired from the UFC, having dominated both women’s divisions. As a result of UFC 316, it could see the return of the lioness to prove she is the GOAT of women’s MMA.

However, there are several obstacles to cross before fans can get excited. As Nunes has left the UFC testing pool, the Brazilian would need to re-enter the UFC’s testing procedure before being cleared to fight. Usually, this process can take six months, meaning any potential women’s super fight will take place in 2026.
