Johnny Fisher sends a warning to Dave Allen ahead of their anticipated rematch this Saturday.
The ‘Romford Bulls’ message was in response to changes he needed to make following their controversial first fight.
In their first encounter, Fisher was dropped in the fifth round but still came out with a split decision victory.
Speaking to Matchroom’s YouTube channel, the 26-year-old sent a clear warning of what Allen can expect in the build-up.
He said: “The build up to the fight, it was too friendly.”
“It was too nice, I don’t really get myself up for it, I need to be a little bit colder.”
This message followed what was an amicable pre-fight build between the pair, with neither quick to discredit the other.
The Copper Box (or ‘Copper Bosh’ as Big John would say) is the location for this clash after their Saudi Arabian duel.
Fisher feels this altered mindset is what’s needed to go in there and finish the job convincingly.
“I can’t be as nice, when I’m in the ring I’m not nice and I’ve gotta harness that a little bit more.
“It means doing my job properly, my job is to win a boxing match.”
Fortunately for Johnny Fisher, his opponent has welcomed this warning with one of his own.
Allen said: “What I want to get across very clearly before the fight this time.
“Matey or not, the top and bottom is when the bell goes I’m going to try and knock his f*cking head off.”
The ‘White Rhino’ is 32 fights deep into his career and this is his second opportunity to send a message to the other domestic heavyweights.
Fisher Maintains Focus
It is not only the message of toning down the niceness which Fisher has focused on – it is also the training.
“The bottom line is I’m a professional boxer. I’ve always trained professionally, I’ve always trained hard but one thing or another gets in the way,” he explained.
“You don’t take your eye off the ball because I’m a professional but little things can creep in.
“We’re stripping things back to where they need to be.”
