Olympic gold medallist and former UFC double champion Henry ‘Triple C’ Cejudo has angered his fans after a controversial prank video. Cejudo has attempted to drum up some speculation before his upcoming fight at UFC 298 and it has blown straight back at his face.
It’s no secret that Henry Cejudo loves to have a joke. Whether it be his attempt to annoy Aljamain Sterling with a doll with his face on it or his roasting of TJ Dillashaw before their super fight, Cejudo always tries to have a laugh at any chance he gets. However, fans believe he may have gone a step too far. Henry Cejudo tried his luck at ‘pranking’ his long time coach Eric Albarracin in a video clip that appeared on the UFC 298 countdown show. In the video he said, ‘You were with me from my last Olympic trials. You’ve been there for me. But as of right now. I just want to let you know that for this camp, dude, I’m getting rid of specific coaches. Man, that’s you included dude.’
Safe to say that for Cejudo to say that to a long time friend ad coach and for it to be shown on the UFC 298 countdown is incredibly harsh.
UFC Fighter Henry Cejudo ‘Prank’ Video Has Angered Alexander Volkanovski
It’s just not MMA fans that are annoyed with this video. Fighters in the UFC have spoken on their disapproval of ‘Triple C’. One being Alexander Volkanovski. The current featherweight champion spoke to themaclife.com and discussed his anger over the video. ‘What? Is that legit or what? Is this some weird way of marketing or promoting? I just don’t get it. In front of the cameras just seems so weird.’
He continued, ‘I thought he looked he was taking it in, but I just don’t get it. You’re an absolute p***k if you’re doing that and thought, ‘This would be good good content and I’m going to make the most out of this’ and go out and do that. Henry, if this is legit, you are a piece of s**t, let me tell you that right now. That’s crazy to me. That’s why I don’t believe it. I don’t think he’s that much of a sh*tbag to do that. I don’t think he is, I don’t get it, I really don’t get it, It’s crazy to me. Maybe he’s just all about himself, so full himself that he doesn’t care about anyone around him. Maybe, I don’t know.’
Luckily, Volkanovski may have hit the nail on the head. Henry Cejudo recently posted a video on his social media referencing the speculation. Albarracin said alongside Cejudo ‘Bill Belichick, Tom Brady, Phil Jackson, Michael Jordan c’mon, you think they would ever break up? C’mon man.’ Cejudo even said in the video ‘Just so you guys know, this is the greatest combat coach of all time. This is an unbreakable bond.’
UFC 298 Build Up
Ahead of the bizarre controversy, UFC 298 is just around the corner. Henry Cejudo, along side trying to save his image, is preparing for his number one contenders match against Merab Dvalishvili. Alexander Volkanovski is preparing to defend his belt against Ilia Topuria and we see the return of Robert Whittaker and Paulo Costa in their highly anticipated fight. However I will believe that Costa is fit for the fight when he is in the octagon. No matter what though, UFC 298 has some of the most highly awaited fights of the year.
