It was announced today that Glory are to host the “Glory Grand Prix”, which consists of the mouthwatering prospect of an eight-man heavyweight tournament.
Its been said that the Glory Grand Prix will commence during 2023, and will take place annually in December.
The announcement was made during a 30-second video uploaded to the official GLORY YouTube channel. The video that can see below, is narrated by the voice of the legendary Michael Schiavello.
Schiavello a huge favourite amongst combat sports fans, known for for his larger than life entertaining commentary on endless amounts of top level Kickboxing, Muay Thai and MMA bouts. He ends the video stating ”something has felt missing, so were bringing it back”.
Glory Grand Prix
The participants of the Grand Prix have yet to be determined, although it was stated via Vechtsport.nl that it will be decided throughout the year via a series of qualifiers and wildcards.
The tournament promises to be one of if not the largest kickboxing tournament in the world.
How to Qualify
There will be qualifying competitions held throughout the year where the heavyweights can lay claim for themselves. The winners of the qualifying rounds will be sent to the finals of the Glory Grand Prix heavyweight kickboxing tournament.
Providing a platform for the worlds best fighters to showcase their skills and compete for the prestigious Glory Heavyweight title.
The first fighters are expected to be announced in the coming weeks. Giving fans a throwback reminiscent to the cult like tournament known as the legendary K-1.

In addition to earning an automatic bid in to the 2023 GLORY Grand Prix, the winner of the GLORY 85 Heavyweight Tournament will also challenge for the Interim Heavyweight Championship against top ranked contender Antonio Plazibat at GLORY: COLLISION 5, taking place on June 17.
Originally set to take place in March of 2023, GLORY: COLLISION 5 was scheduled to feature an Undisputed Heavyweight Title Bout between Reigning Champion Rico Verhoeven and Plazibat. However, Verhoeven suffered a knee injury that will sideline him until the late 2023. During his absence, his next challenger will be determined through an Interim Title between Plazibat and the GLORY 85 Heavyweight Tournament Winner.
Who do you want to see in this huge tournament? Could Kickboxing legend Badr Hari be tempted to return? And will we see the King of Kickboxing defend his crown? Only time will tell, but there’s one thing for sure the Glory Grand Prix will be spectacular.
